Are male dog wraps, aka those things you wrap around a dog’s penis to help with house training, effective?
I have a Chihuahua that I am house training. My sister told me about a woman she met who has never even thought of house training a dog and now she hates cleaning up the stains so she got one of these:http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3764793 . I have no idea what to think. what do you think? I am currently house training my Chi with a crate training and close supervision method.
Please don’t use the belly band or diapers on a young, healthy dog. It will not help with house training, and it can cause skin breakdown.
I used belly bands with my geriatric dog when he had continence issues during a vestibular attack. The key is to change the wet bands quickly. You don’t want a dog to be sitting around in his own urine.
Keep up with the crate training. One thing that has really helped me with housetraining is using the umbilical leash method. Keep the dog on leash in the house and attach the other end of the leash to your belt loop. The dog is always at arms length to grab and go. Of course, with a little guy, make sure you don’t step on him. Good luck–and don’t give up. He will learn.
